Dr. Barajas receives the 2013 IEEE Huntsville Section “Outstanding Engineer Award”

During the 2013 Engineer’s Week Awards Banquet, Bob Robinson, Boeing Tech Fellow and Past IEEE Huntsville Section Chair presented the award on behalf of the IEEE to Dr. Barajas for significant contributions as a member of the IEEE

Leandro has been an IEEE member for almost 20 years  (Student Member ’94 – Member ’98 – Senior Member ’06).  He is currently the Chapter Founder & Chair of the IEEE Joint Robotics & Automation – Controls Systems (JRACS) Society, IEEE Huntsville Section, Huntsville, AL. He has also been the Chapter Chair and Vice-Chair of the IEEE Joint Robotics & Automation Society, IEEE Southeastern Michigan Section, Detroit, MI.

Dr. Barajas has also received the 2010 IEEE Robotics & Automation Early Career Award. As recognition for his contributions to the General Motors-NASA Robonaut 2, he has received the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer, the NASA Exceptional Space Act Award, and the NASA Johnson Space Center’s Exceptional Software Award. He has also authored over 60 technical publications and 50 invention disclosures that in turn have been translated into over 30 patents & patent applications.
